TLC Announces Search for Munchkins and Toto
--Lost Colony Company to audition local youth (and dogs) for big chance at small roles--

(Manteo, N.C., June 10, 2010) – The Lost Colony is looking for young actors to appear in their upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz at Waterside Theatre on July 30, 31 and August 6, 7. Auditions for munchkins and other ancillary characters will be held on June 16 from 4-6 pm at the Lost Colony Building. Additionally in July there will be canine auditions for The Wizard of Oz.

Young actors Interested in the June 16 auditions are invited to prepare a song to sing and a text to recite (preferably by memory) for the auditions. Photographs and résumés are recommended. Children must be at least 6 years of age to appear in the production. Rehearsals for the show require both daytime and evening commitments. There will be a $45 costuming fee to be in the show, however the costume will be yours to keep afterwards. Participation requires availability for all four performances.

If your canine is interested in auditioning, then bring “your dog little dog too”, to Toto Auditions in July. For the role of Toto, producers of the musical are looking for a well-mannered “scrappy dog” of any breed. These auditions occur on July 7 from 4-6 pm at Waterside Theatre. 2010 Local Audition Location
This year Local Auditions will be held at the Roanoke Island campus of the College of the Albemarle.

Acting auditions will be held in the COA Auditorium, the dance auditions will be held at the Gymnasium, the technician interviews and other auditions will be held at the auditorium.

Electronic and Video Auditions are now being accepted!

If you are unable to attend one of The Lost Colony’s scheduled auditions posted on the website an electronic or video submission will be accepted for review.  Acceptable formats include DVD and web hosted videos such as “YouTube” or personal websites.

This audition can be submitted by email or a mail carrier service beginning January 1, 2010.  Submissions prior to March are recommended.  An in-person meeting/audition is required before final casting decision can be made.
