The Lost Colony & National Park Service, along with the Elizabethan Gardens cordially invite you to the 2015 Virginia Dare Faire, sponsored by Yadkin Bank. Celebrate the 428th birthday of Virginia Dare, Tuesday, August 18th, with events all day at Ft. Raleigh National Park! Virginia Dare Faire will be held at outside of the Lost Colony Administration Building from 10am-1pm.
Virginia Dare is one of the most influential historical figures to Roanoke Island. In celebration of her 428th birthday, The Lost Colony continues its beloved tradition of casting local infants in the performance. Traditionally, on August 18th, five babies perform throughout evening appearing in different scenes. Teachers, policemen, ministers, town officials, politicians, fishermen and businessmen have all been on stage as the first English child born in the new world. This year because an overwhelming amount of babies, The Lost Colony is excited to announce that the Virginia Dare celebration will continue to the next evening, August 19th, in which there will also be 6 infants in the production. Virginia Dare Day events are made possible with the help from event sponsor, Yadkin Bank.
The Lost Colony choir is excited to extend an invitation to their free concert on Sunday, August 9th at the Dare County Center in Manteo, NC. Directed by Jordan W. Prescott, this recital will feature popular favorites from Oklahoma! Violet, Carousel, and many other showstoppers you don’t want to miss! Songs for a Sunday Afternoon begins at 5:00pm!
Nationally recognized Journey tribute band, Resurrection—A Journey Tribute, is making its first Manteo performance at The Lost Colony’s Waterside Theatre on Sunday, August 2nd. The Nashville, TN-based band is the final concert of the Live at the Waterside series, presented by PNC Bank. ‘Resurrection – A Journey Tribute‘ takes flight with a stellar lineup of accomplished Nashville musicians that re-create the look and feel of those magical Journey tours from the 1980’s featuring Steve Perry.

Actors, directors, designers, technicians, dancers and singers are in the final hours of rehearsal for Paul Green’s The Lost Colony opening for its 78th season on May 29. Each year, the symphonic drama is reinvented by new actors and technicians who join returning company members to perform The Lost Colony. The 2015 company is comprised of mostly new actors, with roughly one third of the cast returning to the production.
