On July 4, 1937, The Lost Colony symphonic drama opened to a “Standing Room Only” audience of over 2,000 guests. Few watching that night would have guessed then that The Lost Colony would be celebrating its 80th Season in 2017. The performance written by Pulitzer Prize-winning Playwright Paul Green, has been performed more than 4 thousand times and seen by more than 3 million patrons. More than 5 thousand aspiring artists have performed at the historic Waterside Theatre, including Andy Griffith, Leon Rippy, Chris Elliott, Eileen Fulton, Terrance Mann, Carl Kasell, and RG Armstrong.
