Thomas Hariot
(c.1560 –
July
2, 1621) was an English
astronomer and mathematician that
visited Roanoke Island in 1585 as
part of the second Roanoke Voyage.
During his time in the New World he
recorded information about the local
plant and wildlife that was observed
on and around Roanoke Island.
