In 1587, 117 English men, women and children started a new Colony on Roanoke Island. Shortly after their arrival, their leader left to return to England to gather more supplies. When he returned three years later, the colony had mysteriously vanished.

Told on the site where these events actually occurred, it is one of the most exciting nights of theatre on the East Coast. Featuring incredible costumes, intense fights, jaw-dropping special effects and a timeless story, The Lost Colony is a treat for a whole family performed in one of the most stunning live entertainment venues in the country.

The Waterside Theatre, home of The Lost Colony is a 1,500 seat open-air amphitheater that sits right on the shore of the Roanoke Sound. Guests will be treated to one of the best sunset views on the Outer Banks prior to the show each evening. The Waterside Theatre is also home to a concession stand, bar, and gift shop, making it the perfect place to spend an evening, whether you’re on vacation or looking to spend a beautiful night outside.

History buffs and theatre lovers will be treated to an incredible show that celebrates our nation’s beginnings and inspired audiences to learn more about North Carolina’s past. On Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, guests can enjoy the Native American Pre-Show, a cultural demonstration assembled by the Native American cast of The Lost Colony that highlights different styles of Native American dances. This free pre-show occurs at 8:00 PM prior to the show on those select nights.
