As you may know, Outer Banks weather is unpredictable –  rain during the day which clears up in time for the show. We make every effort to perform The Lost Colony while keeping our guests in a comfortable and safe environment but we are outdoors:

  • Typically, no decision about the performance is made prior to the start of the show.
  • In a light rain, the production will continue as you enjoy the added ambiance of a cooling drizzle under a Lion’s Club poncho.
  • The performance may be delayed due to weather conditions.
  • CANCELED/POSTPONED Performances  – We always make our best efforts to continue a performance but sometimes Mother Nature does not cooperate. In the event The Lost Colony cancels a show, the Box Office will notify ticket holders to contact the ticket office for house credit or for a refund of the base ticket price if Performance Cancellation Insurance has been purchased. Insurance is not available for sale the day of a performance; it MUST be purchased 24 or more hours prior to the performance. House credit may be used at a performance anytime in the next five years after the cancelled show.
  • We do not allow the use of umbrellas in the theatre, as they are a distraction to other patrons. Rain ponchos are available in the gift shop.

Performance Cancellation Insurance

ALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL. Unless a performance is canceled by The Lost Colony, there are no refunds or exchanges. Refunds for canceled performances are given only if performance cancellation insurance has been purchased.  Insurance must be purchased at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled performance. Price of the insurance is an additional $5 per ticket.

Frequently Asked Questions

We always advise that you purchase your tickets in advance to ensure preferred seating as all seats are reserved. If you wait until the night of the performance, we cannot guarantee seats will be available. The sooner you purchase tickets, the greater choice you have in choosing your seats. We recommend purchasing seats at least a week in advance.

Whether you order tickets online, in person or over the phone, there is a non-refundable processing fee on each ticket which is added to your total at checkout.

ELECTRONIC TICKETS

When ordering tickets online and selecting Email as the delivery method, please be aware the email with your electronic ticket could bounce into your spam or junk folder. Please check all folders. I f you do not see an email from The Lost Colony Box Office, then call the Box Office at (252)473-6000 for assistance.

LOST OR MISPLACED TICKETS

If you have lost or misplaced your theater tickets, please call the Box Office for assistance at (252) 473-6000.

WILL CALL TICKETS

Will Call tickets are available to be picked up at the Box Office the day of your scheduled performance.

The Lost Colony supports the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990. We are wheelchair accessible at the top of the Lower Level of the theater. Special needs seating can be purchased through the Box Office or online. A limited number of wheelchair spaces with companion seating are available on a first-come, first served basis. Upon arriving at the theater, an Usher will assist you in getting to your seat. The Lost Colony makes every effort to accommodate all of our guests; however, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the box office at 252-473-6000.

For individuals who have limited mobility, we have a limited number of wheelchairs available to transport guests from the front of the house to their seats. Upon arriving at The Lost Colony, the guest should ask at The Box Office for assistance. Please be aware that our staff will not remain with the guest during the performance, nor will they allow the guest to remain in the wheelchair for the duration of the event unless they are seated in a wheelchair-accessible seating area.

TICKET RELOCATION

If a guest requires the use of a wheelchair and did not obtain wheelchair accessible seating, please call the Box Office immediately to relocate the guest. Or if a guest accidentally purchased wheelchair accessible seating but needs a theater seat, please call the Box Office to be relocated). Box Office can be reached at (252)473-6000.

If you are unable to attend a performance, we welcome ticket exchanges up to 24 hours before the scheduled performance for a credit towards any future available show within the same season. There is NO FEE for changing your date. If you are unable to attend, your ticket purchase may be turned into a tax-deductible donation to the theatre.

I cannot attend a show that I am holding a ticket forcan I get a refund? All sales are final. No refunds will be given unless a performance is cancelled in its entirety and the ticket holder has purchased Performance Cancellation Insurance. You may exchange your tickets for another evening by calling the Ticket Office prior to the start of your scheduled performance.

Children of all ages are welcome to attend shows. All children must have a ticket regardless of age or even if they will be sitting on your lap. Sorry, no babes in arms.

House Management reserves the right to ask parents with children making a disturbance during a performance to step out of the theater until the child is calm.

If you arrive with your child in a stroller, you must leave it in the Breezeway area.  There are no strollers permitted in the seating area.

 

Animals are not permitted on the premises with the exception of service animals. Service animals are defined as animals that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.

Please check with the box office to help accommodate your service animal to assure that they are comfortable.

Once in Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, follow the signs to The Lost Colony or Waterside Theatre. Parking is free!

Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the house management. You may be asked to wait at the top of the hill before being seated.

Patrons are welcome to take pictures without a flash. If it is found that you are prolonged videotaping at any point, we reserve the right to hold your camera or phone until the end of the performance. Small snippets of video are permitted.

All our theatre facilities are smoke-free facilities. Smoking, including E-cigarettes and vaping, is only permitted outside the main gates of the theatre.

We are casual. Dress comfortably. Remember we are outdoors, so a light jacket is often a good thing to have handy.

We recommend that you bring spray or other repellent with you. Please spray responsibly.

The Manteo Lions Club operates a concession stand in the left breezeway serving light snacks for all performances. They accept cash, VISA, Mastercard and Discover for purchases.

Outside food and beverages, are not permitted in The Lost Colony.

Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase from The Lost Colony before the performance through intermission.

All guests are required to show ID to purchase alcohol. Guests are not permitted to bring in outside alcoholic beverages and no one may leave the Waterside Theatre with alcohol purchased inside. Management reserves the right to refuse the sale of alcohol to any guest.
